The formation of Blackhall Engineering in 1965 marked the beginning of an ongoing commitment to design and manufacture special purpose valves to the customer's exact requirements.

The breadth of our experience and resulting products over this period has encompassed services from high pressure/temperature applications to cryogenics and our valves have been used to control fluids from service air to liquid helium, from fuel oil to crude and from boiler-feed water to superheated steam.

Within our design parameters, we strive to provide our customers with longevity in the product and ease of on-site maintenance. We also help to keep our customer's operating costs to a minimum by providing a full spares service and reconditioning facility for our own and other manufacturer's products.

In 1989 we purchased the sole manufacturing and intellectual rights for the Blakeborough 'Larner-Johnson' Flow Control Valve from the Hopkinsons Group.

The valve was originally developed for use on hydroelectric power plants in the U.S.A. where it pioneered the application of the needle valve principal to the problems of flow control in pipelines and conduits.

Its principal application is the control of fluids, notably the water supply field, where the pressures and control requirements bring its advantages into full play. There is also a regular demand from power stations and the petroleum industry.

We are furnishing four 60" x 48" Larner-Johnson Inline Needle Control Valves for the Catskill Ashokan Reservoir - Lower Gate House. These Valves will pass 450 million gallons per day at full flow at 97 feet TDH. Two of these valves have been installed and are fully operational, while the other two are in the installation process. The Larner-Johnson Valves are manufactured by Blackhall Engineering Ltd., which owns the world wide rights to the Larner-Johnson Valve.
